How to use the words to minutes calculator
A 1,000-word script takes 6 minutes 40 seconds at 150 words per minute. Speaking time is word count divided by words per minute, multiplied by 60. The pace table lets you compare the same script at five different speeds.
Use a pace that matches the way you speak to your audience. Complex explanations often need more breathing room than a familiar story. If you already know your word count, switch to the word count tab. Add a target to check the size of your edit, then rehearse aloud to account for pauses and emphasis. The estimate covers spoken words; silent scenes, music, and audience reactions need separate time.
